Judy Yo Calls on Fellow Artists to Fight Against Sexual Violence

Zambian singer Judy Yo has broken her silence on the alarming increase in rape cases across the country, calling for urgent action from both the government and society.

In a heartfelt Facebook post directed at the Ministry of Community Development and Social Services, the “Anaka” hitmaker stressed the need for preventive measures, including thorough investigations, public education, and community involvement to tackle the growing crisis.

Rape is a violent crime that affects individuals of all genders, ages, and backgrounds. It is crucial to understand that consent must be clear and enthusiastic; anything less is not acceptable,” Judy Yo wrote.

She further urged Zambians to support survivors, challenge rape culture, and hold perpetrators accountable, emphasizing that sexual violence should never be normalized.

Judy Yo also called on fellow musicians and influencers to use their platforms to raise awareness and push for social change. As I am aging, I urge all my fellow artists to speak on this because it is a real issue and a plague upon our society.

Her message comes at a time when rape cases in Zambia continue to make headlines, sparking outrage and concern among citizens. Judy Yo’s strong stance highlights the power of artists as advocates for change, proving that music and activism can go hand in hand.
