WHAT started off as a joke of being a degree holder is slowly turning into an advocacy movement for education enhancement spearheaded by Allan the degree holder.
Born on the last day of the first month in 1994, Allan Simuchimba, faced many hurdles in his academic journey as most people but eventually overcame and now pushes people to do the same through his Comic.
Drawing inspiration from the many difficulties that his family encountered after his father died and the mother was left to fend for the family as a single parent, Allan strived to work hard in school.
“I was raised by my mother because dad passed away when I was very young and so it was not easy for my mother as a single parent to raise us,” Allan said.
“She (Allan’s mother) would struggle to make ends meet especially that she was not in any gainful employment.”
Allan went to Mikwa Private School for his primary education until he passed his grade seven examinations and progressed to grade 8 at Kabundi Secondary School in Chingola on the Copperbelt.
In 2011, Allan completed high school with good grades and went on to pursue a Degree Program .
Allan, the second born in a family of three, including himself and his sisters, two girls. I am the second born. Reveals that being an advocate has always been his passion because he knew the value of good and quality education.
“It is because of what I have seen education do to an individual and society and large that I embarked on promoting the need for a person to get a degree!”
“This is the one reason why I came up with the idea of “Allan The Degree Holder.”I will use my page to advocate for as many people as possible to acquire degrees.”
Allan disclosed that poverty and disease will consequently be drastically reduced in Zambia through education.
” As people aquire degrees they will be improving themselves as individuals and in the process develop the society at large,” said Allan.
