Zambian music star Yo Maps has been directed to make changes to his latest music video, “Budget,” following public concerns about some scenes being unsuitable for younger audiences. The directive was issued by the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM), which says it has been engaging the artist and his team since April 26, 2026.
According to ZAM, complaints were raised by members of the public who felt that certain visuals in the “Budget” video could normalize behavior not appropriate for children.
In a statement released by ZAM President B Flow, the association emphasized the importance of responsible content creation. “In a Christian nation such as ours, it is important that artistic works reflect both ethical standards and the cultural tenets that guide our society,” the statement read.
ZAM noted that Yo Maps’ growing influence — especially with millions of views on YouTube — places a greater responsibility on him to consider how his content may impact younger audiences. The video, which features Frank Ro and Dizmo, quickly gained traction online, further amplifying the conversation around its content.
ZAM confirmed that it worked closely with Yo Maps’ team, providing technical guidance on how to edit the video directly on YouTube. The video’s director, Director Lo, acknowledged the recommendations and agreed to implement the necessary changes. By April 30, 2026, Olios Records’ production partner, Reel Studios, confirmed that the edits had been completed. A revised version of the video is currently being uploaded and is expected to be available to the public soon.
