Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) Ready To Sing Louder Than A Mosquito with End Malaria Campaign

The Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) has entered a powerful new partnership with the End Malaria Council Zambia (EMC), marked yesterday by the signing of a crucial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in Lusaka.

The ceremony, attended by ZAM’s executive leadership and 17 dedicated members, underscores the music industry’s unwavering commitment to ending malaria, a disease that continues to claim between four to five Zambian lives every day.

ZAM President Brian Bwembya, famously known as B Flow, pledged the industry’s full support, reflecting on malaria’s devastating impact.

“Malaria has affected many of us personally. We cannot just fold our arms while others are dying. As artists, we attach the utmost importance and seriousness to this cause. Our voices are powerful, and we are ready to use them,” B Flow emphasized.

On his part, EMC Chairperson Dr. Godwin Beene challenged the artists to turn the partnership into real change. “The MOU is not a piece of paper. What is in here must be actuated. Please talk about malaria. Sing about malaria,” he charged.

What the Partnership Means

The two-year agreement is designed to put music at the heart of malaria advocacy. Key commitments include:

  1. Creative Production – Artists will produce songs and videos carrying malaria prevention messages.
  2. Advocacy – ZAM members will be appointed as official Malaria Champions to amplify campaigns across radio, TV, and social media.
  3. Community Outreach – Musicians will actively participate in education drives, mobilization events, and fundraising concerts.
  4. Education – Members will undergo orientation in malaria prevention to ensure their messaging is accurate and impactful.

With nearly 30,000 new infections recorded daily, ZAM believes the unifying power of music can amplify awareness, inspire action, and save lives.

This historic collaboration is not only a milestone for the fight against malaria but also a demonstration of how art and advocacy can merge for the greater good. ZAM is calling on all creatives to join the movement and contribute malaria-focused content that will make a difference.
