Popular Zambian gospel artist Kings Malembe Malembe has responded to the uproar surrounding a controversial and obscene post that was briefly published on his official social media page.
The now-deleted post, which appeared to involve a well-known socialite, caused a stir online before it was taken down. But according to Malembe Malembe, the post was an accidental upload made by a foreign-based team currently managing his page.
“I was not even aware of what had been shared on my page,” Kings told News Diggers in an exclusive interview. “I’m sure they pressed somewhere and that was done. And when I was alerted, I told them to delete it.”
The award-winning gospel singer explained that at the time the post was shared, he was at a hospital being attended to by a doctor and had no direct involvement with the upload. Kings added that the team handling his page is also working on getting the page verified, suggesting the incident may have happened during a technical misstep.
However, the quick deletion may not have been fast enough to avoid widespread attention. Within minutes, screenshots had already begun circulating online, sparking debate and criticism.
Despite the backlash, Kings remains firm in his stance that the post was unintentional and not reflective of his values as a gospel minister.
As one of Zambia’s most respected gospel voices, Malembe Malembe’s brand and message are rooted in faith and moral leadership, making the situation even more sensitive. While some fans have expressed disappointment, others have shown support and understanding, acknowledging that mistakes can happen in the digital age especially with delegated account management.
