The 2025 Kwacha Music Awards saw chart-topping star Yo Maps dominate the nomination list with an impressive seven nods across major categories, including:
- Album of the Year – My Hero
- Best International Achievement
- Most Conscious Song – My Hero
- Best Collaboration – Peace of Mind ft. Roberto
- Best Mainstream / Pop Song – Mr and Mrs
- Best Male Artist
- Song of the Year – Mr and Mrs
However, in a surprising turn, Yo Maps and his management team Olios Records have officially announced his withdrawal from this year’s awards. Instead of competing, Yo Maps has chosen to contribute to the growth of the Zambian music industry by participating as a sponsor—a move that highlights his commitment to giving back.
Official Statement from Olios Records:
“In 2025, our priority is not to seek nomination but to contribute directly to the growth of the industry. We are proud to announce that Olios Records will sponsor two categories at this year’s awards: Best Upcoming Artist – Central Province and Best Male Artist. This sponsorship reflects our commitment to supporting both emerging and established talent, while giving back to a platform that has given so much to us and the industry.”
Olios Records further expressed gratitude to the Kwacha Music Awards, recognizing the invaluable role the awards have played in celebrating Zambian creativity, resilience, and hard work.
With this bold step, Yo Maps transitions from nominee to industry investor, cementing his role not only as one of Zambia’s leading artists but also as a force dedicated to empowering the next generation of musicians.
