Welcome to Zamrock 🇿🇲
(Moōdboard)

When I relocated to Zambia after the pandemic I finally got to be Sampa The Great for the first time in my own country.

How wild!

I got to work with musicians from home, visual artists from home and sponsor an all girls producers class so we could challenge the status quo of women in music @zmloop ✨

One huge discovery during all this was my introduction to Zamrock.

A genre that was birthed in the 70’s and is a combination of traditional Zambian music and psychedelic rock.

In particular, I became focused on kalindula music.

Inspired by the band @weintendtocausehavoc and their lead singer Mr Jagari Chanda. Who in the present day has become one of my musical mentors/heroes.

I decided to create a tribute to a musical phenomenon that is known globally yet not really fully celebrated and acknowledged in Zambia today.
