Mathew Tembo has released his ninth album, Konkha. Konkha, meaning “To Follow” is shown in a fully produced style, and also in the minimalist version shown here with grace of pianist Sam Boateng of Ghana. The beautiful Clara Kitongo, who also contributes vocals to the Konkha album, acts in this video. While Konkha is Tembo’s ninth album, it is his first record made in the US. The music results from collaboration with more than 40 international musicians. This is very vocally driven work that is based upon traditional African themes, but with contemporary western flavors.
