  1. ZMB – What are your full names and are they different from your stage name?

TIMOTHY– My full names are Timothy Mulumbo Choonya; and yeah my stage name is different from my full names because I only use Timothy as my stage name.

  1. ZMB – How did you come up with your stage name?

TIMOTHY – Well, I was inspired by the R & B Artistes like R. Kelly, Usher, Joe Thomas and Judy from Zambia who use their names as stage name thus I came up with Timothy.

  1. ZMB – Where are you from originally and where do you perform mostly?

TIMOTHY – Okay I am a Zambian dude who grew up from Siavonga town since the age of 4 but I am now based in ZAF Mumbwa coz I work from there and you can find me performing a lot at wedding functions coz in Zambia, that’s where R & B music is largely appreciated.

  1. ZMB How would you describe your act for the public audience for those who have never seen you before?

TIMOTHY – My act rather style is unique coz I talk about various emotional issues via slow jams to attract both adults and youths

Well since the release of my three singles via big websites like Zambia Music Blog around the country, I can say I ve managed to capture a larger group of both adults and teens because my music is flawless. I saw this when Born & Bred (A music video show in Zambia) aired my video and the views were good and supportive of my efforts.

  1. ZMBThinking back to early childhood, what was your first experience with music for the first time like? What song do you remember most as a child?

TIMOTHY – My first experience with music was when I heard My mum play Boys 2 Men song “End of the Road”, that’s where my love for music developed, I then began singing with my cousin in quartets at church (S.D.A)

  1. ZMB – As a child growing up, music surrounds us; What type of music did you hear the most back then?

TIMOTHY – Well I listened a lot to Rhythm and Blues from the likes of Usher, Babyface, Joe Thomas, Joe Chibangu, Mainza the list is endless.

  1. ZMB – How does it differ from what you listen to now? -What was the first song that you ever sang? How did it make you feel?

TIMOTHY – It doesn’t really differ coz R&B Music has just evolved into a new dimension, The first song I ever sang was R. Kelly`s “Can’t turn back the hands of time”. It made me feel complete and inspired me to attempt the Zambian R&B music scene.

  1. ZMB – What made you first realize you wanted to pursue a career in music? -If you had to describe your music in three or four words, what would you call it?

TIMOTHY – The way people behaved after I sang in church, and what they told me made me think twice and start thinking about music. “Refreshing, clean and mature” is how I describe my music

  1. ZMB – Of lately you call yourself “the of Zed R&B” Don`t you think, there is already another king of R&B specifically F Jay.

TIMOTHY –  HMMM, I have so much respect for the man but again you are right, I call myself the king of R&B coz I make original, clean refreshing rhythm and blues. Listen to my songs chikondi, fly away and sinifuna then you will appreciate real zed blues. So yeap I am the king in my own right.

  1. ZMB – What have you done so far in the music industry

TIMOTHY – I released my first song in 2014 with the title “CHIKONDI” and shot a cool video with Big Deal Graphix in Copper belt, the link is here below.

Then I released my second song “Fly Away” which I call my break through into the Zed Music scene and shot the video with MT Productionz in Lusaka- (Click here to download “Fly Away”) and finally also released my third hit soulful single “SINIFUNA” produced by Shom-C. I am currently working hard to be a big star out there and hope my music is appreciated coz whether a rapper, businessman everyone wants to be loved

  1. ZMB – Is there anyone special you would like to thank for making your dream come true as an artist? -For those who would like to get in touch with you how can they do so?

TIMOTHY – I would like to thank God for this voice and my ever growing audience. Thanks to Big Blogs like Zambian Music Blogs who have given up and coming artists like me a platform to show case my abilities. You can get in touch with me via Face Book on my page @ Timothy R & B Zambia or Timothy R & B Singer Zambian.

As for this, am beginning to work on my album but I will take my time because I wanna bring out classic slow jams from emotional issues to gospel jams; it will be a rich album. Watch out for my new song to drop soon, it`s called “Rumour” to be produced by Shom – C at Zero DB studios. Thanks
