Copperbelt rapper Y Celeb, has issued a public apology following an incident that led to his arrest on Saturday after attending the Nkana vs. Power Dynamos football match.
The rapper took to his social media platforms to address the matter, calling it a misunderstanding and clarifying that it was never his intention to gather or influence the crowd that followed him.
“I’m humbled by the love and support I’ve received, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to clear my name,” said Y Celeb. He further extended an apology to the police for any inconvenience caused during the commotion.
“To the police, I apologize for any inconvenience caused, and I appreciate your efforts to maintain law and order. I understand that you were doing your job, and I respect that,” he added.
Amateur footage circulating online showed Y Celeb being placed in a police vehicle while several people ran chaotically along the street. Another clip captured the rapper moments earlier, cheering enthusiastically at the football match.
The Team Yo Maps frontman, who also apologized to his fans, has promised to be more mindful of his surroundings going forward and to use his influence positively by promoting unity and love.
