Recent reports of a physical altercation between Zambian rappers Y-Celeb and Slapdee at the 95th Agricultural and Commercial Show in Lusaka have sparked widespread speculation and heated debates on social media. However, Tiyeze Simfukwe, popularly known as Nigga 14 and manager of Y-Celeb, has come forward to dismiss claims that his artist was not punched by Slapdee, providing a different account of the events.
According to Simfukwe, the widely circulated story that Slapdee physically assaulted Y-Celeb is a gross misrepresentation. He stated that Slapdee rarely performs freely in Kitwe due to his fear of Y-Celeb and his crew. On the day of the incident, tensions were already high backstage as around 20 local artists were scheduled to perform during the event.
Simfukwe explained that Y-Celeb approached Slapdee in an attempt to resolve ongoing differences between the two rappers. At the time, Slapdee was accompanied by police officers. When Y-Celeb tried to initiate a conversation, Slapdee reportedly pushed him away but accidentally ended up shoving a police officer instead.
The situation escalated quickly, but according to Simfukwe, there was no deliberate physical assault from Slapdee on Y-Celeb. The manager insists that the narrative of a punch is inaccurate and has been blown out of proportion by social media users.
This backstage confrontation highlights the ongoing tension between two of Zambia’s prominent rap artists. While fans continue to debate who is right or wrong, the clarification by Y-Celeb’s manager provides important context, urging the public to avoid jumping to conclusions based on viral videos and rumors.
As the music scene eagerly watches to see how this rivalry unfolds, both rappers remain influential figures in Zambia’s hip-hop industry, with large and loyal fan bases.
