Zambian superstar Roberto, best known for his chart-topping hit “Bestie“, has made headlines after revealing that he turned down an offer to perform at the upcoming ZAMSAFARI Festival of All Stars, which will be headlined by Nigerian Afrobeats icon Davido.
The festival, slated for November 20, 2025, at Lusaka Showgrounds, promises to be one of the biggest musical events of the year, featuring a star-studded lineup that includes Towela Kaira, DJ Switcher, K-Star, and Kapembwa.
However, Roberto won’t be taking the stage. In an interview with Diggers Lite, the singer revealed that the amount offered didn’t make sense for his brand or experience. “I actually turned down an offer for the very same event because the money that I was offered did not make any logical sense to me,” Roberto explained. “Let me not start mentioning the [money], but it’s definitely way below the amount I’d even charge for a wedding.”
Roberto’s honesty has stirred mixed reactions online with some fans applauding him for knowing his worth, while others argue that he should have performed for exposure and unity ahead of Davido’s arrival.
The situation highlights an ongoing debate in the Zambian music industry should artists compromise for exposure, or stand firm for fair pay? While fans will miss Roberto at ZAMSAFARI, the “Superstar” hitmaker has made one thing clear: 🎯 He’s not playing small stakes anymore.
