In a major cabinet reshuffle, President Hakainde Hichilema has dismissed Gary Nkombo from his position as Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, replacing him with Sinazongwe MP Gift Simuunza Sialubalo.
The announcement was made today by State House through Principal Private Secretary Bradford Machila. While no specific reason was provided for Nkombo’s dismissal, the President extended his gratitude for Nkombo’s contributions during his tenure.
“The President has thanked Hon. Nkombo for his service rendered to the people and the Republic of Zambia,” the statement read.
As Sialubalo steps into his new role, President Hichilema wished him success and divine guidance, underscoring the importance of his responsibilities in leading the ministry.
This move has sparked discussions on Zambia’s political landscape, with analysts speculating on the possible motivations behind the reshuffle. Regardless, the transition marks a new chapter for local governance and rural development in Zambia.
