The Lusaka High Court has temporarily blocked Patriotic Front (PF) president Miles Sampa’s decision to remove Morgan Ng’ona as party secretary general, pending a hearing on the matter. Judge Conceptor Zulu granted an ex-parte order, halting Mr. Sampa’s decision to remove Mr. Ng’ona and dissolve the PF central committee.
The order also stays any other decisions made by Mr. Sampa after assuming the secretary general position. The case has been adjourned for inter parte hearing, with leader of opposition in Parliament Robert Chabinga applying to be joined as an interested party.
Mr. Ng’ona is seeking a court order to halt recent party decisions made by Mr. Sampa, arguing that the PF president has no power to effect changes without central committee ratification. The lawsuit highlights a deeper leadership dispute within the Patriotic Front party, with implications for Zambia’s political landscape. Stay tuned for updates as the case unfolds.
