Macky 2, real name Mulaza Kaira, has opened up about the level of support he received from fellow musicians during his campaign in Chingola, claiming that while a handful of artists showed up for him, some others chose to perform for his political opponents.
His remarks come after B Flow’s appreciation post for Mampi, in which the ZAM president highlighted the Queen Diva’s support for Macky 2’s campaign. Macky 2 confirmed that Mampi financially supported his campaign, saying he has always considered her family and appreciated the help she gave him.
But while acknowledging those who stood with him, Macky 2 made it clear that he felt the wider music industry support was far from what some people may have assumed. He also appeared to take a swipe at social-media support, telling B Flow, in essence, that Facebook posts are not the same as physically showing up when someone needs support.
Despite the disappointment, Macky 2 said he does not believe anyone owes him anything. He explained that he initially kept quiet because he did not want to contribute to negativity within the music industry.
Still, his latest comments have opened up a fresh conversation about artist loyalty, political choices and who really stood with Macky 2 when the campaign trail got serious.
