In a case that has ignited widespread discussion across Zambia’s digital space, filmmaker David Kazadi, model Mwaka Halwiindi, and Ruby Muzandu have been arrested and formally charged for the alleged production and circulation of obscene material, following the leak of a sexually explicit video that quickly went viral online.
The trio was formally charged under Section 177 of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia, which prohibits the creation, distribution, and transmission of content considered to be obscene or likely to corrupt public morals.
🔍 Breakdown of Charges
- Mwaka Halwiindi (23) faces two counts of making or producing obscene videos, reportedly related to footage in which she is seen engaging in sexual acts with multiple men.
- Ruby Muzandu (23) has been charged with one count of conveying or exporting obscene material.
- David Kazadi (34), a well-known creative director and filmmaker, faces two counts each of producing and circulating obscene content.
The charges stem from intelligence-gathering and digital surveillance carried out by the Cybercrime Unit, which tracked the source and spread of the footage.

In an official statement, Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga confirmed the arrests and warned the public against similar offenses.
“We wish to reaffirm our commitment to upholding law and order, especially in the digital space, and will not relent in bringing offenders to justice,” he stated.
He emphasized that the actions taken against the accused are part of the government’s broader effort to preserve public morality and clamp down on illegal online content.
