He also added to say that the Nominations and Awards should solely be based on skill and talent and not favoritism. Without even beating around the bush it has been clear considering the past years that some of the category arrangements and some Award winners had not had what it truly takes to qualify. Macky II’s concern is very clear, & in my opinion, justifiable. It’s not up to you to decide how much he values his art or brand! It’s a free market remember! Further, he’s not merely demanding that Mosi gives K15,000 to artists. It’s in relative terms that he arrived at such a figure. If other people get huge amounts of money from an awards show centred around artists, how much should the artists themselves get?
It’s not free! The awards are not free to the artists! There would be no awards show if there were no artists in the first place!
