FILM producer David Kazadi has been sued in the Lusaka High Court by Icon Zambia 2024 Season 1 winner Emmanuel Muleba over an alleged failure to deliver a promised house and music recording contract.
Muleba claims the grand prize included a fully furnished double-storey house, a K1 million recording contract, a Mercedes-Benz GLA 200, medical insurance, Shoprite grocery vouchers for a year and K100,000 cash.
According to his statement of claim, Muleba resigned from his job in Kitwe in August 2024 to pursue music through the competition, which he won at the grand finale held at East Park Mall on October 24, 2024.
He says Kazadi and his company delivered the Mercedes-Benz, paid for his medical insurance, provided the grocery vouchers and handed over the cash prize, but failed to provide the house and recording contract.
Muleba claims he initially believed Flat 13 at Buckley Apartments in Linda, Lusaka, where he was accommodated after winning, was his house prize. However, he says Kazadi informed him in January 2026 that he was personally paying the rent before later telling him to find alternative accommodation.
Muleba says he moved from Buckley Apartments to a smaller house in Kabanana on August 6, 2026, to manage his expenses and avoid destitution. He is seeking an order compelling Kazadi Flim limited and its director David Kazadi to deliver the house and recording contract or pay damages for breach of contract and lost professional opportunities.
