Government to Assist Dandy Krazy & Accident Victims’ Families with Funeral Expenses

The Government of Zambia has pledged to assist with funeral expenses for the family of the late Dandy Krazy and the four others who tragically lost their lives in the road accident on New Year’s Eve.

The announcement was made by Ministry of Youth, Sports, and Arts Permanent Secretary Chama Fumba, who expressed the government’s commitment to standing with the grieving families during this difficult time.

“We understand the pain and loss the families are enduring. As a government, we will ensure that the burden of funeral expenses is lessened for them. It is our duty to honor the contributions of Wesley Chibambo, popularly known as Dandy Krazy, and to support all the families affected by this tragedy,” said Fumba.

Tragic Loss of Lives

The road accident, which occurred near Kapiri Mposhi on the Great North Road, left five people dead, including Dandy Krazy, whose real name was Wesley Chibambo. The artist succumbed to injuries at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) in the early hours of January 2, 2025, following emergency surgery.

The other victims included Makofi Humphrey, the 25-year-old driver, and Christopher Muyembe, aged 30. Two other deceased individuals are yet to be identified.

Nation in Mourning

Dandy Krazy, a celebrated musician, was best known for hits such as “Donchi Kubeba” and “Chintelelwe.” His music not only entertained but also played a significant role in Zambia’s political landscape, particularly during the 2011 general elections.

A Gesture of Unity

The government’s support reflects the nation’s collective grief and its recognition of Dandy Krazy’s contributions to Zambian culture and music. Permanent Secretary Fumba called on Zambians to unite in prayer and solidarity with the bereaved families.

“This is a time for us to come together as a nation to honor the lives lost and to provide comfort to their families. Let us keep them in our thoughts and prayers,” he added.

As the funeral arrangements are finalized, the government will work closely with the families to ensure a dignified send-off for all the deceased.

Rest in peace to Dandy Krazy and the other victims.
