Recently Zambian top notch award ceremony, Kwacha Music Awards are back after 2 solid years without being hosted in the motherland.The Kwacha Music Awards are hosted by Sun FM with other stake holders. Initially these awards were supposed to be held every year to award artists all over the country for their great works in the the industry. A few days ago Kwacha music unveiled the nominees for this year’s award ceremony.
However some artists had mixed feelings over the nominations of these awards. Just a few days ago Jae Cash announced on his social media page that he has withdrawn from the Kwacha music awards for various reasons. Yesterday 13 th August, 2022, Jemax followed suit. The rapper was nominated BEST ARTIST CENTRAL province however he felt he and his team have been putting in so much work in all his music. He felt his other works deserves to be nominated, this made him to withdraw from the Kwacha music awards.
Fast forward, award winning artist Drimz Mr. Music also withdrew from the Kwacha music awards awards. His management wrote a letter saying “ Much as we are most grateful for the nomination,we take strong reservations for the categorization of a well known established Zambian music icon to the central province category.” They went on to say, “it goes without saying the aforementioned position is clearly in conflict with the nation wide status and appeal of Drimz as both an artist as well as a brand.”
They noted that, “in this light we thank you for the nomination accorded our artists but but respectfully decline as we feel it subtracts rather than adds to the spirit of Zambian music of which Drimz has established himself as a worthy ambassador.
