Yo Maps manager, Evans Nsongela, popularly known as “DJ Kandeke”, has been fined K300 for being a public nuisance. Nsongela, 30, was charged with nuisance by a drunken person, an offence to which he pleaded guilty.
On February 3, at around 03:07 hours, Nsongela, who is also manager for musician Yo Maps, was arrested after firing gunshots at a club called Bojangles in Ndola.
According to facts presented before Ndola magistrate Brian Simachela by public prosecutor Mike Mwalila, on the material day, Chikoti Mulendwe, 40, of Lubuto, was at the nightclub when he received a call from his friend.
Mr Mwalila said that when Mr Mulendwe went outside to take the call, he heard gunshots being fired. He said door bouncers apprehended Nsongela, who was later arrested and charged.
Mr Mwalila said during investigations, police interviewed the complainant, who narrated that Nsongela was drunk while firing gunshots before pointing the firearm at him.
“He said he felt uneasy as a result of the incident and called the police. He also gave officers some of the cartridges he picked from the scene,” Mr Mwalila said. In mitigation, Nsongela, who did not have legal representation, admitted that he was wrong.
“I was wrong. I have learned something from this incident,” he said.
