One of the greatest Zambian female referees Diana Chikoteshe was one of the assistant referee in the final match of the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations which was hosted in Ivory Coast. The match was played on Sunday 11th February, 2024. The final game was faced by the host Ivory Coast who won Nigeria by 2 – 1.
President Hakainde Hichilema wrote: “We salute Zambian referee Diana Chikotesha for being the first woman assistant referee to officiate a men’s AFCON final. Zambia is back in the Champions League.”
Chikotesha has been a key member of the CAF referees officiating panel at the tournament where she has been on VAR duties and on the pitch as assistant referee
