Cosmas Ng’andwe On Winning The AMVCA; Negative Talks, Mwizukanji Film Pt. 2 & More | the ZMB Talks

Zambia’s celebrated filmmaker Cosmas Ng’andwe has officially added one of Africa’s most prestigious accolades to his shelf winning Best Indigenous Language Film (Southern Africa) at the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).

In a heartfelt and thought-provoking conversation on The ZMB Talks, Cosmas opened up about the highs and lows of this major milestone, the state of Zambia’s film industry, and what fans can expect next including a hint at “Mwizukanji Part 2”.

“This win is not just mine,” he said. “It’s for every Zambian storyteller who believes our stories matter and deserve a place on Africa’s biggest stage.”

But while celebrating, Cosmas also addressed the negativity and lack of support within local circles, noting that many Zambian filmmakers face unnecessary criticism and limited industry collaboration. “We have talent, we have heart what we need is unity and a real push to invest in ourselves,” Cosmas emphasized.

Among the most exciting revelations was the tease of a sequel to his award-winning film “Mwizukanji”, which took the country by storm for its raw, emotional storytelling. Though details remain under wraps, Cosmas confirmed that part 2 is in the works, promising an even more powerful narrative.

As Zambia continues to rise on the continental creative scene, Cosmas Ng’andwe is not just winning awards — he’s shaping the future of Zambian cinema.
