Zambian Hip-Hop artist, Chanda Mbao, recently launched his mixtape, The Patriot, at Taj Pamodzi Hotel in a star-studded live music event supported heavily by local musicians including DJ Cosmo, T Bwoy, Willz and many others.
Since the launch, his single ‘Who’ has been selected to be in heavy rotation on Trace Africa and US dancing phenomenon, Yvng Swag, released a dance video to the song.
After an exclusivity period which saw the young rapper distributing physical copies directly to fans, he has now announced the digital release of the mixtape. The mixtape is available on all major international digital platforms (iTunes, Spotify, Amazon etc.) as well as Zambian platforms such as the Vodafone Music Live app and Mvesesani. According to the rapper, ‘The Patriot’ mixtape from Chanda Mbao represents his journey around the world as a young Zambian. Influenced in its production and content by the various places Chanda has lived around the world, one can easily see how his music has received attention internationally. The young global citizen delivers a fundamentally Hip-Hop project with fusions of eclectic soundscapes across the project. Just looking at his five star hotel launch event and the project roll-out, this is surely one for the Zambian Hip-Hop history books.
