IT’S OFFICIAL! HH Defeats Brian Mundubile by 1.1 Million Votes to Win 2026 Election
President Hakainde Hichilema has been declared the winner of Zambia’s 2026 presidential election after the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) consolidated results from all 226 constituencies.
According to the final figures provided, Hichilema polled 2,965,326 votes, while his closest rival, Brian Mundubile, received 1,856,217 votes.
The final margin between the two leading candidates stands at 1,109,109 votes.

The result gives Hichilema a decisive victory and secures his return to the presidency for another term.
The win follows several days of intense vote counting after Zambia went to the polls on August 13. Earlier reported ECZ results had already shown Hichilema opening a significant lead over Mundubile, with the incumbent consistently remaining above the threshold required to win outright.
The 2026 election attracted enormous attention across Zambia, with supporters of different political parties closely following every constituency result as they were announced.
Now, with all 226 constituencies accounted for and Hichilema declared the winner, attention will shift to what lies ahead for his next term in office.
