Sunday, July 19th 2015, music fans representing every corner of the world will make way to the historic Centennial Olympic Park in the heart of downtown ATL, to experience the international music event of the summer Passport Experience Festival (#PXPFest) geared to unite American, Caribbean, European, Latino & African music fans together for one day under one roof, a feat which deemed impossible until now.
Some of today’s top artists in the fields of Afrobeat,Reggae, Hip Hop & EDM as well as many of the world’s renowned DJs are confirmed to appear at the international festival. This seven hour music marathon organized by a well-known international DJ & concert promoter Fully Focus of Passport Entertainment Group (P.E.G) is dedicated to artistic integrity & celebrate cultural diversity.
The event takes place just two weeks after Independence Day weekend & features Artists and DJs known for their versatility, stage presence & commitment to the cultures of the nations & islands they represent. This includes natives from the U.S. namely Atlanta, Miami, New York, from Africa; Kenya, Senegal, Nigeria, Zambia, & Liberia, from the Caribbean Islands; Jamaica, Trinidad & Haiti and South America. There will be a main stage, an international silent disco tent & cuisines representing different parts of the world.
In addition, convenience & comfort are both of at most importance for P.E.G organizers. Centennial Olympic Park, which hosts the city’s annual 4th of July celebration, was built specifically for the 1996 Olympics (which is very fitting to the many countries represented at PXP Fest) and was chosen for its ambience & location. It is surrounded by Atlanta landmarks CNN Center (Headquarters of CNN), World Of Coca Cola, Georgia Aquarium, The Sky View Ferris Wheel & Phillips Arena home of NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, making it accessible from all parts of the city by MARTA & only a 15 minute drive from the airport. It features the digitally interactive Fountain of Rings & amenities include affordable food & drinks & plenty of restrooms. There are also a limited number of tickets being issued to ensure the ultimate customer experience is enjoyed. “It’s about a quality outdoor experience for the people and performers alike, the event is build from both a fan & artist’s perspective to ensure satisfaction.” said P.E.G. founder Focus.
Over the last 12 years the Kenyan born global DJ has done it all from being an on air radio personality & mix show DJ, to headlining is own world tours in Dubai, Amsterdam, London, Trinidad, Rwanda & Kenya. He also does his own recurring events in Las Vegas & Atlanta and recently worked with A-list artists in different genres namely pop star Akin, Diplo’s Major Lazer, Dancehall sensation Sean Paul, Soca king Machel Montano & Afrobeat heavyweights D’Banj, Davido, Timaya, Sauti Sol on releases, collabos & tours.
“The idea was conceived when I started this weekly mix show back in 2010 on SoundCloud that curated different genres of music & it took off, now with over 1 million plays in 50 countries. Two years later I started getting bookings in different parts of the country & world and the more I traveled, the more I realized we’re all so alike & want the same things in life; happiness, health & prosperity, yet music is the universal language that unites us all”, he says. Since not everyone will get that chance to travel, he figured why not bring that experience to the people so in 2014 Passport eXPerience Atlanta was born, a monthly event series which quickly became a multi cultural destination & as Major Lazer’s Walshy Fire put it best, “PXP is the only place where you’ll see Africans, Caribbeans, Americans, Europeans, Latinos & everybody in one room to party as one”. Coming from a guy who’s headlined every festival & venue possible in every corner of the world.
Atlanta has for the last 15 years dominated the Hip Hop scene thanks to legends like OutKast, Ludacris, Usher, T.I & many more & in 2013 ATL was chosen as the new home of EDM megalith TomorrowWorld drawing hundreds of thousands of revelers from all over. “It’s obvious this is an international city so it’s time we truly embrace the international community and give everyone a Passport Experience”, Focus continued. “What makes PXP Fest unique is that everyone belongs here, and we’re all equal, we celebrate diversity & culture pride. No where can you get all your favorite genres on one stage, it’s been tailor made for the open minded music fan making it the only truly international festival, but also a platform tor African culture & music to be showcased on the same stage as other genres, for we deserve it & it’s time we told our story, our way. It’s a place where you can bring your diverse circle of friends & family and there’s something for everyone. It’s the only place where you get to travel the world without a visa & the only limitation is your imagination”.
