Zambian music star Afunika has released a deeply touching new single titled “Tetifyetulabe,” a heartfelt tribute dedicated to the late King Dandy, who tragically lost his life last year following a fatal road traffic accident.
The accident occurred on New Year’s Eve in Kapiri, where King Dandy’s vehicle was involved in a collision with a truck and another car. The tragic incident claimed the lives of three people at the scene, including his backup vocalist and the driver. King Dandy was later rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, where he sadly passed away in the early hours of January 2.
“Tetifyetulabe” is Afunika’s emotional way of honoring a fallen colleague and friend. Through reflective lyrics and a solemn melody, the song expresses grief, remembrance, and the pain left behind by Dandy’s untimely departure. Afunika captures the sense of loss felt across the Zambian music industry, while also celebrating the legacy King Dandy left through his music and influence.
The tribute stands not only as a memorial but also as a reminder of how fragile life is, especially for creatives who spend much of their lives on the road. With “Tetifyetulabe,” Afunika gives fans a moment to mourn, reflect, and remember one of Zambia’s vibrant talents whose light was taken too soon.
