Mosi and the Organizers of the Zambian Music Awards wowed the Zambian Community last night with a new look of there Awards Ceremony, a lot of things have been improved, the stage looked amazing, musicians performed live, the sound was intact and a lot more better than last year’s ceremony.
The show was opened with a national anthem performed by Abel Musuka Chungu of Lotahouse band, followed by a performance from Kantu and Tasila Mwale..
Chishala Chitoshi (Gesh Groove and Kutemba) got to the stage to open the ceremony as they were this year’s hosts.
Surprisingly Dilish Methews winner of one Season of Big Brother Africa and Cleo Ice Queen were called to the stage to announce the winner for BEST CLUB DJ which was scooped by BIZZY WIZZY.
Roxy from Radio Phoenix and Man-Chilu from ZNBC also got awards for BEST RADIO DJs.
At this pointing time WILLZ Mr. Nyopole was given the stage to perform his hit single Toliwe supported by Wezi – Willz disappointed many fans as he failed to beat his own recorded vocal but with Wezi’s amazing vocal quality we couldn’t concentrate on willz distortion but her charming professional singing.
The award for best collabo was given to Chef 187, Best Choral Album was awarded to Mt. Sinai received by Kambenja (the choir lead vocalist), F Jay and A Jay of urban hype got to the stage and did a thrilling amazing performance.
Best Kalindula Album was scooped by Liseli Sisters, T Sean got the award for BEST DANCE-HALL ALBUM, Nasty D and patience where called to the stage to present an Award, Nasty D looked nasty as usual but its like people never anticipated it so they laughed even worse when he called himself Mr. D and said imagine chris brown performing a song by Sansamukeni Band – on this one we all laughed.
Chris AKA got the award for BEST RAGGAE ALBUM, ABEL MUSUKA CHUNGU got the award for BEST R&B ALBUM, Heart Of A Lion by Chef 187 got an award for BEST HIP HOP ALBUM. At this pointing time ZAMROCK Legends where honored and a performance followed supported by Mag44 – Mag44 also wowed us with his creative punchlines. CHEF 187 got another one for BEST MAINSTREAM ALBUM, ABEL also scooped another award for BEST GOSPEL ALBUM and BEST NIYATU ALBUM was scooped by WILLZ presented by SAULOSI.
After North Mead Choir’s performance Joe Chibangu and Electrix got to the stage to present the Award for BEST SONG WRITER which was scooped by the late P Jay (R.I.P) – the award was received by P Jay’s young brother and sister as they shared an emotional moment on the stage and Afro Red got the award for BEST JAZZ ALBUM.
At this stage ZMA took time to pay respect to the Zambian Musicians that have passed away followed by a P Jay tribute performance opened by T Sean, Angela Nyirenda & Starn Daindustry joined in. BEST LIVE RECORDING ALBUM was awarded to NORTH MEAD MEGA CHOIR, the BEST BAND award was scooped by Amayenge Band. SUWILANJI also didn’t go home empty handed as she won the award for BEST GOSPEL FEMALE ARTIST.
ABEL MUSUKA CHUNGU made victory once more by scooping the third award for BEST GOSPEL MALE ARTIST – this artist really knows what to say when getting the award, his speech was amazing. This time now Willz was being overrated by scooping an award for BEST NEW ARTIST, when we had Kantu and Urban Hype in the same category. Ok let’s not Judge but we wondered.
Next was a thrilling performance by Exile to Israel, from the Circular Jams to the Gospel Jams, it became even more interesting when the wife (Nalu) joined him and did a romantic performance of Efindingile hit single. LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD was given to Evelyn Hone College. Mampi also got the award for BEST MAINSTREAM FEMALE ARTIST though she didn’t attend the ceremony. The guy with the Shabba Ranks glasses (Leo Muntu) and Mama Josephine presented the Award for BEST MAINSTREAM MALE ARTIST which was scooped by CHEF I87.
Kopala guys were really entertaining – they even reached to an extent of wiping the stage. SONG OF THE YEAR was awarded to MAMA REBBECCA by Macky2 – the award he also dedicated to Tonny Breezy who happens to be the producer of the song.
CHEF 187 and Starn Daindustry Closed the show with an amazing expensive live performance of 99 Jobs.
whilst other were enjoying the victory Ruff Khaida didn’t give a DAMN!
Mr. Gesh Groove took the matter in his own hands and had a few things to post on twitter
