Unveiling Blink Duncan Zeke’s Celebrity Drawings | Interview

Blink Duncan Zeke a young portrait slinger is one of the youthful Zambians trying making a life out of the things he’s passionate about, He has already started selling out ideas to fashion icons and it seems he doesn’t even worry about owning an 8K camera because he can do pure fine high quality paintings and drawings of any inspiration.

Despite him being a die-hard chase player in his primary school days, BLINK always did a bit of painting and drawing in his alone time.

INTERVIEW:

At What age did you realize you wanted to be a portrait painter?

– At age 13, One day I just wake up, got a pencil and paper, and started drawing my father’s new car – I loved the car so much, that’s when I knew I had it in me (the art thing), from there I loved drawing and in 2008 I won my first award at Mukuba Awards as Best Virtual Young Artist on the copperbelt.

Share the best advice you’ve ever been given…

– Art is from God and if you can draw or paint, do it and don’t stop and I know they say art is nothing in Zambia – No its not, you can still do it and feel important doing it.

Approximately, how long does it take for you to finish one painting?

– when I start a painting in the morning I will be done in the evening, but for drawing it’s just a few hours. Art is from God and if u can draw or paint, do it dnt stop I no ther say art z nthing in zambia no u cn stay do it and its nice doing it.

What do you hope to accomplish with your work?

– Mmh I wish Zambia can know me and help many other young artists

How can art become better in Zambia in your own opinion?

– By having a lot of showcase activities in all different parts of Zambia and unit among artists.

Are there any other artists that you would like to recommend for others to check out as well?

Yes… Mr Danny Chiweso, and Chiluba – Mr Danny helped me to know more skills and painting, he also helped me sell my first painting in Ndola and for Chiluba, we used to draw together and he told me not to stop.
Oh.. And my brother Donavan Kanyembo who always told me not to stop believing in myself.
