Sampa The Great – Nu Zamrock (Full ALBUM)

Zambian rap export Sampa The Great has officially released her highly anticipated album, “Nu Zamrock,” a 16-track project that reimagines Zambia’s legendary Zamrock sound for a new generation.

The album draws inspiration from the rebellious spirit of the original Zamrock movement, blending its rich musical identity with contemporary sounds, hip-hop and Sampa’s distinctive artistic style.

The project carries a special family connection for Sampa, following her discovery that her uncle, George Kunda, popularly known as Groovy Joe, was a founding member of pioneering Zamrock band WITCH.

That discovery inspired her to explore Zamrock not just as an important part of Zambia’s musical history, but also as part of her own family and cultural heritage.

Rather than simply recreating the sounds of the past, Sampa uses “Nu Zamrock” to connect Zambia’s musical roots with modern creativity, giving the genre a fresh identity while preserving the rebellious energy that made it special

Across its 16 tracks, “Nu Zamrock” features an exciting lineup of collaborators, including international singer Sia on “Supernova,” KAMAUU on “Star” and Nicole Gumbe on “Gone.”

The album also includes previously released singles “Can’t Hold Us” featuring Mwanjé, “Simon Says” and “Location.” With this release, Sampa The Great puts Zambia’s musical heritage on a global stage, inviting listeners to experience a fresh interpretation of a sound that helped shape the country’s music history.
