Yo-Maps Awards 12 Full Scholarships to Medical Students at Royal Medical University

Zambian music star Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo-Maps, has taken a bold step in giving back to society by awarding 12 full scholarships to 10 medical students at Lusaka-based Royal Medical University.

The award ceremony took place on Wednesday, marking a major milestone under his education initiative dubbed the Yo-Maps 100% Bursary. Speaking at the event, Yo-Maps revealed that his vision is to sponsor up to 20 students in 2026, doubling the impact of the program. “This is more than support; it’s an investment in dreams, service, and the future of our nation,” Yo-Maps said.

Reflecting on his own upbringing, the singer shared an emotional account of how difficult life was during his childhood and how he made a personal promise to always uplift others once he found success. “When I was growing up, life was never smooth. But I promised myself that when God blessed me, even from the little I make, I would always reach back and help others,” he wrote.

On 31st December 2025, Yo-Maps officially launched the bursary by sponsoring 10 medical students at Royal Medical University, covering their education in full through the Yo-Maps 100% Bursary. The award-winning singer says he and his team are trusting God to expand the program this year.

“As Olios, this year we are believing God for 20 students on the Yo-Maps 100% bursary. Our prayer is that He helps us reach our goals and targets so we can double the number and continue changing lives, one opportunity at a time.”

He also expressed gratitude to Royal Medical University for welcoming the initiative and requested that the institution continue sharing the sponsored students’ academic results each semester so their progress can be tracked.

Yo-Maps concluded his message with a powerful appeal to fellow citizens and stakeholders. “There are thousands of young people out there with dreams but no access to school. If you have the capacity to help even one or two get an education, please do so. When we lift each other up, we are not just changing lives, we are contributing to the growth and future of this country — Zambia.”
