The Kwacha Music Awards 2025 organizing committee has addressed the swirling talk surrounding Yo Maps’ reported withdrawal from this year’s awards.
According to Chomba Lesa Malembeka, the secretary-general of the Zambia Association of Musicians (ZAM) and a committee member of the Kwacha Music Awards, no official communication has been received from the artist regarding his withdrawal.
“Yo Maps’ withdrawal hasn’t been officially communicated to us, so we would really like to honour him in that way and that will not currently change anything in our planning. Our committee will engage with him should they formally write to us. He remains an integral nominee,” said Malembeka.
The statement comes as fans continue to speculate about the hitmaker’s relationship with the awards, with some questioning whether his recent silence means he’s distancing himself from the event.
Despite the rumours, the committee insists that Yo Maps remains a valued nominee and will be celebrated for his contribution to the Zambian music industry unless an official statement says otherwise.
With the Kwacha Music Awards 2025 shaping up to be one of the most talked-about events of the year, fans are now eager to see whether Yo Maps will make an appearance or if this silence signals something bigger behind the scenes.
