LUSAKA – The ongoing assault case involving social media personality Ruth Ronnie (Ruth Mukanga) and her ex-boyfriend Brian Kapyanga has been adjourned to allow the State to resolve outstanding issues ahead of the cross-examination stage.
Kapyanga is charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm under Section 248 of the Penal Code, Chapter 87 of Zambian law. The charges relate to an alleged incident on July 8, 2025, in Lusaka, during which Mukanga claims she was physically assaulted.
According to court documents, Mukanga alleges that Kapyanga pulled her hair, punched her, and broke her finger while recording the incident. She further claims he demanded repayment of K500, seized her phone and bag, and dragged her to Longacres Police Station in an attempt to frame her. Mukanga also alleges continued harassment, including circulating negative videos and threatening to plant drugs in her home following their breakup.
The court has set the next hearing for November 13, 2025. If convicted, Kapyanga faces potential penalties under Zambian law, which could include imprisonment and fines.
