David Kazadi Resigns as The Icon Zambia Judge Amid Ongoing Legal Drama

Filmmaker and media entrepreneur David Kazadi has officially stepped down as a judge on the music talent show The Icon Zambia, calling the move “stepping back to move forward.” In a heartfelt statement, Kazadi explained that while his passion for the creative industry remains unchanged, stepping down was necessary to protect the integrity of the platform and its contestants.

“That’s why stepping down as a judge in the midst of the noise and turmoil around my personal life was incredibly difficult, but ultimately necessary. THE ICON is bigger than me,” he said.

Kazadi’s decision comes in the wake of recent legal troubles involving the circulation of obscene material, for which he and others have been charged under Zambia’s Penal Code Act. Despite the controversy, Kazadi maintained that silence is the most responsible path during this time, and that his silence should not be taken as an admission of guilt.

“This platform is for the young men and women whose talents deserve to shine undiluted and without being overshadowed by my personal circumstances,” he stated. The filmmaker assured fans and partners that The Icon Zambia Season Two remains in capable hands, thanks to a solid team both at The Icon and Kazadi Films.

He ended his statement by reminding fans that the auditions episode will air this Sunday, July 20th at 7:30 PM, where a new judge will also be announced. Despite the setback, Kazadi reaffirmed his long-term commitment to the industry, stating: “This is just a bruise. I will finish what I started.”
