Zambian rap heavyweight Jemax has expressed his surprise and disappointment over not winning Album of the Year at the Kwacha Music Awards. During a recent interview, the Boogeyman hitmaker did not hold back on how he felt about the results.
“I was supposed to win Album of the Year at the Kwacha Music Awards. I was shocked that ‘The Boy from Chililand’ by Chile One won the award.”
Jemax’s Boogeyman album has been widely praised for its depth, storytelling, and authenticity. It has amassed strong streaming numbers, loyal fan support, and critical acclaim since its release — all of which, according to Jemax, made him confident about his chances.
However, the award instead went to Chile One MrZambia for his debut album The Boy from Chililand, which has also enjoyed commercial success and wide appeal across multiple audiences.
