Renowned Zambian musician Wesley Chibambo, fondly known as Dandy Krazy, was laid to rest today at Leopards Hill Memorial Park in Lusaka. Despite the relentless rain, a massive crowd of mourners turned up to bid farewell to the beloved artist, who tragically passed away following a car crash on New Year’s Eve.

Fans, fellow musicians, and well-wishers stood united, braving the downpour to honor a man whose music brought joy and inspiration to many. The funeral was marked by heartfelt tributes, underscoring Dandy Krazy’s significant contributions to the Zambian music scene and his enduring legacy.

The day began with a memorial concert held at the Lusaka Showgrounds Main Arena, where an array of celebrated artists gathered to perform in his honor. The lineup included Yo Maps, Macky 2, Afunika, Mozegeta, and Shi Mumbi, among others, who offered musical tributes to commemorate Dandy Krazy’s life and career. Each performance was a poignant reminder of his immense impact on the industry.

Dandy Krazy’s untimely death followed a devastating road accident near Kapiri Mposhi while he was en route to Kitwe for a performance. The accident claimed the lives of four individuals on the spot, with Dandy Krazy suffering critical injuries. He was rushed to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH), where he underwent emergency brain surgery. Despite valiant efforts by medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The loss of Dandy Krazy has reverberated across the nation, with tributes pouring in from fans, fellow artists, and public figures, including President Hakainde Hichilema. The President described him as a unifying figure whose music touched lives far and wide.
