Yo Maps Opens Up in Court: Wife Called a Prostitute, Family Threatened by Elias

Renowned Zambian singer and producer, Elton Mulenga, popularly known as Yo Maps, has testified in court detailing allegations of cyber harassment against businessman and blogger Elias Musyani. The case, which has gripped public attention, revolves around claims that Elias used social media to launch derogatory and threatening attacks on Yo Maps’ wife, Kidist Kifle, and their daughter.

Testifying before the court, Yo Maps narrated a series of disturbing incidents, including posts where Elias allegedly referred to Kidist as a “prostitute” and a “witch.” On one occasion, Elias allegedly threatened to abduct their daughter and send thugs to harm Kidist at her gym. The musician said the threats left him deeply distressed, prompting him to involve legal counsel from Nsapato and Advocates.

The court heard that on April 8, 2024, Elias posted inflammatory messages suggesting Kidist was involved with other men. Despite Yo Maps reaching out for a resolution, the harassment allegedly continued. In one instance, Elias recorded a phone conversation with the couple and later posted it online, further fueling the conflict.

The case, brought under the Cyber Security and Cyber Crimes Act No. 2 of 2021, highlights growing concerns about online harassment. Yo Maps presented screenshots of the offensive posts and submitted audio recordings to the court. The trial is set to continue in January 2025, with the court expected to review the evidence in detail.

This high-profile case underscores the impact of cyberbullying on public figures and the need for robust legal protections against such offenses.
