Tbwoy’s Latest Album Overlooked in Zambia, Gains International Recognition with Hollywood Nomination

Zambian artist Tbwoy recently shared a heartfelt message on social media, expressing his gratitude and emotions after receiving a nomination at the 8th edition of the Hollywood and African Prestigious Awards (HAPAwards). Despite feeling that his latest album “Try Love” has been largely overlooked in his home country, Tbwoy’s hard work and dedication have caught the attention of the international community, earning him an invitation to one of the industry’s most respected award ceremonies.

In his post, Tbwoy expressed his thanks to God for granting him grace and big opportunities. He noted that stepping foot in Hollywood for an album that hasn’t received much recognition in Zambia is proof that people outside are paying attention, encouraging his fellow artists to continue doing what they love, even if local recognition is slow to come. “Many thanks to everyone who produced and featured on this project, and to those helping me push this body of work—the DJs in the club, radio, TV, and the fans on social media platforms,” Tbwoy wrote, acknowledging the key contributors to his success.

Tbwoy also addressed the doubters, saying, “To those who doubt, don’t wait until I’m bigger on the world stage to claim me as Zambian. While I’m pushing now and you’re ignoring me, the day you realize I’m doing this for all of us may be too late.” His message serves as a reminder of the struggles many artists face in gaining local recognition, and a call for more support from their home countries as they pursue global success.
