ZESCO Spokesperson Matongo Maumbi has attributed the recent prolonged emergency load shedding in parts of Lusaka to challenges with power imports from Namibia. Speaking on Phoenix FM on Wednesday, Maumbi explained that in recent days, Namibia has been unable to deliver the full amount of electricity that Zambia had purchased. He expressed hope that the issue would be resolved soon to alleviate the ongoing power outages.
“In areas like Garden, Salama Park and others, we’ve been facing difficulties since Sunday due to issues with our electricity imports from Namibia. They have been unable to supply the necessary amount of power that we need as a country, which has contributed to the extended load shedding. We are hopeful that this situation will be resolved very soon,” Maumbi said.
