On 26th July, 2015 in ST. Paul, MN, United States was the 15th annual Starkey Hearing Foundation gala (So the World May Hear) headlined by the world’s celebrated female artist ‘Katy Perry’.
Zambian pop sensation ‘Portia Thanjekwayo’ using the pseudonym ‘Portia Clark’ had also been listed as one of the performing arts of the night. The songbird commenced her singing career as early as 8 years old and Joined Vessels of Praise church choir at 11 years of age, in the recent years she has performed in front of many high government officials including former first Lady Dr. Christine Kaseba.
Before Portia got to the stage she sat on the same table as former US president George Bush and Katy Perry. President Bill Clinton also approach her to appreciate her talent after the amazing performance.
With money raised at the gala, the Eden Prairie-based organization provides hearing aids to children in Third World countries. A total of $8.7 million was raised last year, with Sammy Hagar topping the bill.
