In failure to drop the “Vanilla” album yesterday (18th of April), Bobby East took to twitter to unleash a heartfelt thread of tweets to disclose what has been going on in his life and why the album couldn’t be released at the announced date.
Tried to talk myself out of posting this thread don’t even know how to narrate it properly so bear with me a lil…..

Today is April 18th the day my second album was supposed to drop..It was meant to be my happiest album the total opposite of my Daywalker persona I spent such a long time coming up with this marketing gimmick (blonde hair and all)

In a series of tweets the artist highlighted on why mental health and depression could not be considered a struggle in the Zambian society, asking why it’s considered a no go area and can’t be discussed in public. While the brothers death who left behind a wife and three kids is also a contributing factor, the rapper wrote that his album could not drop due to him not being satisfied with the first work and a bit of financial struggle. He further clarified that this was not a campaign for sympathy it’s a step towards healing.
In a conversation with ZambianMusicBlog.co Bobby East said the change of location and his music has been his therapy and also confirmed that the album will definitely drop, probably a month from now.
The album will come out though I owe Stash,my entire team and my fans that much…..

I do not tell this story to seek sympathy or make excuses…Sometimes opening up is a good step towards healing and maybe I can help some one going through the same thing since mental health and depression is such a no go area for most Zambians…..

For the 10 or 20 hardcore fans that were waiting for the links I’m very sorry that is honestly the only reason the album didn’t come out today…

I took a job with an investment firm and went to work on a farm block in Mpande Village Northern Zambia…Partly cause I now have three kids and y’all don’t pay me as much as you should but mostly cause I wanted to be somewhere people couldn’t see me be sad…
